The 'Systemic-Racism' Claim

The claim:

America was built on racism. White Supremacy has been part of America's foundation from the very begining, and it stands as an inextricable part of the country's culture and legal system.

The fact:

America was built on the principle of that "all men are created equal". Despite the moral contradictions of its time, it was founded on the idea that 'rights' come from God, and that power should derive from 'the people', not from ruling monarchs. Over time, these founding principles allowed it to expand rights and opportunities to all, making it one of the freest and most prosperous nations in history.

Who claims it (and why)?

Activists such as Nikole Hannah-Jones¹, Kim Crenshaw² and Ibram Kendi³ justify their "America is racist" claim by pointing at slavery, and 19th century laws that enforced racial segregation and discrimination, particularly against African Americans.

Why the claim is false?

It cherry-picks with the intention of... These are not "foundational"... they were the result of a young nation grapling with the idea of... vs their slave-owning states. If it was "foundational" then why did the Founding Fathersfight a war to elimiate the slavery? Why did they write the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, which despite their moral contradictions, laid the groundwork for human rights and freedom, which have expanded over time? The principles of self-governance, checks and balances, and individual liberty have inspired movements for justice, both domestically and globally.

No the only country (slavery was common). Even those were highly debated issues at its time, showing that these are rather evidence of a country grappling with the issue of slavery and how o manage post slavery, rather than a foundational.
